Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why don’t you accept insurance?
We believe expert answers shouldn’t come with unnecessary delays or red tape. Our private-pay model allows us to provide:
Personalized Attention — Longer appointments, deeper analysis, and a custom-tailored report — not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Faster Access to Care — No waiting months for insurance pre-approvals or coverage decisions.
Transparent, All-Inclusive Pricing — One flat fee covers everything: consultation, testing, report, and follow-up. No surprise bills. No mystery codes.
Insurance-Friendly Documentation — We provide a superbill so you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
By opting out of insurance constraints, we’re able to focus on what really matters: your mind, your questions, and your future.
2. How much do you charge?
Our all-inclusive $2,500 fee is consistent with national averages for comprehensive adult neuropsychological evaluations, which typically range from $2,000 to $4,000. We provide a detailed report, feedback session, and superbill for reimbursement — with no surprise fees or insurance delays
3. What is neuropsychological testing?
Neuropsychological testing is a specialized assessment that evaluates cognitive functions, including memory, attention, problem-solving, and language skills. It helps identify strengths and weaknesses in cognitive abilities related to brain function.
4. Who should undergo neuropsychological testing?
Individuals who may benefit from neuropsychological testing include those experiencing cognitive difficulties, changes in memory, attention issues, brain injuries, neurological disorders, or mental health concerns. Testing can also be helpful for educational purposes.
5. What can I expect during a neuropsychological evaluation?
A typical evaluation involves an interview, a review of medical and educational history, and the administration of standardized tests. Sessions usually last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the assessment.
6. How long does it take to receive results?
Dr. Highsmith will discuss initial results with you on the day of testing. Full results are typically provided within 1-7 days following the evaluation. A comprehensive report will be prepared and discussed, either on the phone or in a follow-up appointment based on your desired type of follow-up.
7. Are the tests difficult?
The tests are designed to measure various cognitive abilities and are not meant to be difficult in the traditional sense. They are structured to assess how well you perform on different tasks.
8. Will my insurance cover this evaluation?
We do not directly bill insurance. Your ability to get insurance coverage can vary depending on your specific plan. It is advisable to check with your insurance company to determine coverage details for neuropsychological testing and if you can get reimbursement if you decide to get your care here. Please see payment info here.
9. How do I prepare for the evaluation?
Preparing for a neuropsychological evaluation typically involves ensuring you are well-rested and bringing any necessary documentation, such as prior medical records and a list of current medications.
10. Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?
Yes, you can bring a family member or friend with you to the appointment. Their support can be helpful during the evaluation and discussion of results. When testing, you will be one on one with the examiner.
11. What happens after the testing is completed?
After the testing is completed, results will be analyzed and interpreted. A follow-up appointment can be scheduled to discuss findings, recommendations, and any further steps, if necessary.
12. What ages do you see?
At Prompt Neuropsych Solutions, we only see adults (18+) and possibly older teens (16-17) based on maturity and reason for the evaluation.
